How to design dashboards?
Dashboards can be edited using the Dashboard Designer. The Dashboard Designer allows to identify a specific format to ensure the translation in several languages. Any graphic element, if it can be edited, can become an item to be translated. In order for the text to be translated, it must be represented by the tag "$$" (for example: $$Compras$$), that will be later interpreted by the system and listed on the translation screen (optiom Translations on the tab Base of the Designer). The items available for translation are global, and serve as a base for all system dashboards. The translations are applicable on the Dashboard Viewer, and the languages presented depend on the language defined for the current user. The Dashboard Designer allows you to establish a connection to various data sources such as SQL databases, Microsoft Excel workbooks, XML/CSV data files or OLAP cubes. The connections to the ERP (Lists and Categories) are performed using the technological means created by the ERP and are always performed using Extraction Sources. To connect to various SQL databases, the Dashboard Designer requires corresponding providers to be installed on your machine. The table below lists the supported data sources and the required data providers. To use the OLAP data source, the Dashboard Designer requires Microsoft Analysis Services OLE DB and Microsoft ADOMD.NET providers to be installed on your machine. To learn more, see Data providers used for Analysis Services connections. The following OLAP servers are supported: The following Microsoft Excel/text formats are supported. The JSON data source retrieves data from: The XPO data source gets data from eXpress Persistent Objects. To create an XPO data source and specify connection parameters, see Binding to XPO Data Sources. Extract Data Source is a compressed snapshot of data from a regular data source. This data is saved to a local file and can be updated from the original data source at any time. The extract data file is optimized for data grouping. It reduces the initial dashboard load time. A special in-memory cache allows you to improve performance when accessing extract data. The Dashboard Designer provides a connection to an object data source defined in a separate class within a current project. Use the available data context to connect to EF data source. The first step to execute to create the dashboards is connecting to the data source. The simplest data sources are the ERP Categories or Lists, that consist in the organization mechanism of the data collection that reduces the database structure knowledge needs. Creating this type of data sources can be performed using a wizard, simply specify the desired List or Category: Creating data sources for the different supported sources is always performed by a wizard:Multi-language support
